Week ending Nov. 28, 2009 the US Department of Defense released the names of 8 military personnel who died, while serving in the United States armed forces. This episode is dedicated to Marine Sgt. (Retired) Miriam Cohen, 101, of Brooklyn, N.Y. she was one of the first and oldest female enlistee at 35.

SPC Joseph Michael Lewis, of Terrell, died on Nov. 17 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an IED. His flag draped coffin arrived by a charter plane at 11:20 a.m., Wednesday, at Majors Airfield in Greenville, TX. To welcome him home were members of his family, friends, fire department, police department, Army Reserves, 1st Calvary of Ft. Hood, and PGR of North Texas.

Nov. 19, 2009 – Shawn Patrick Hefner, 22, of Hico, Texas; assigned to 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Nov. 13 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Week ending Nov. 14, 2009 the US Department of Defense released the names of 7 military personnel who died, while serving in the United States armed forces.

At the 11th minute, of the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month Dallas kicked-off its annual Veterans Day parade down Main Street. Thousands of participants and onlookers crowded downtown Dallas on a sunny mild weathered day. It was perfect weather as people began to find a position on the parade route. Members of the 1st Calvery of Fort Hood, TX were honored with leading the procession.

Funeral services for SSGT Shawn McNabb were held at First Baptist Church of Terrell, before heading to DFW National Cemetery. The funeral procession was escorted by the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders.

Week ending Nov. 07, 2009 the US Department of Defense released the names of 7 military and civilian personnel who died, while serving in the United States overseas. Additionally, the 13 victims of the Fort Hood massacre.

Army SSGT. Shawn H. McNabb, 24, of Terrell, TX. died Oct. 26 of wounds suffered when the MH-47 helicopter he was aboard crashed in Darreh-ye Bum, Afghanistan. A grateful community welcomed their hometown hero home.
