Memorial Day 2010 – USFallen.org Special
To Remember is to Honor – Rolling to Remember
USFallen dedicates this video in honor of the PGR, for their service and dedication of observing Memorial Day- everyday of the year for our veterans.
May 15, 2010 (Waco, TX) Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Heart of Texas Chapter 1012 and the Central Texas Patriot Guard Riders hosted a re-dedication ceremony, to honor three new names added to Waco’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Hundreds of citizens gathered to pay honor to the three names added to the 64 names enshrined at the Waco Vietnam Veterans Memorial including: Dennis Wayne Fisher, Frank Brown Westerfield, and Gerald Ray Roberts. And now there are 67.
“From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother” ~ Shakespeare
As people gathered at the site of the memorial in downtown the PGR began to stage at Lacey Lakeview, some 18 minutes away. After the PGR conducted their safety briefing they had a group prayer. They mounted their bikes and lined up for Rolling to Remember; a Pass and Review. At 10:23AM the procession was escorted by the Lacey Lakeview Police and the MacLennan County Sheriff Department.
The procession rumbled its way along the west side of the Brazos River and came across the suspension bridge to University Drive. The approximately 500 spectators were waiting in anticipation. At 10:50AM the riders began a slow procession in front of the memorial. People ran out to take photos of the approximately 100 motorcycles; as they passed by.
Once the motorcyclist parked they were geared up with flags and they took a position. US Rep. Congressman Chet Edwards, D-TX 17th District, was the keynote speaker. Families of the fallen were recognized and honors were rendered by the USMC 4th Battalion, Ordinance Maintenance Company of Waco, TX.
This video is made possible by the generosity of the VVA HOT Chapter 1012, Central Texas PGR, sponsors, donors, and friends.
