Dallas, TX, Jan. 21, 2011 US Army SSGT Omar Aceves was laid to rest with full military honors at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery. After the funeral services at Grace Baptist Church, family and friends boarded their vehicles and formed a funeral procession. They were escorted by the Dallas Police Department Escort Detail and North Texas Patriot Guard Riders from the church to the cemetery.

Along the 7-mile journey the police stopped all traffic to allow a safe passage. Some got out of their vehicles and stood by their cars as the funeral procession passed by. A few saluted while others placed the hands over their hearts and a few just stood silently.

The procession was greeted by solemn rings of Texas Liberty Bell. Also there were members of the American Legion, active duty members, and other patriotic Americans wanting to pay their respects.

Honor Guard from Ft. Worth JNAS and Ft. Hood Pall Bearers stood at attention. Once the coached parked the Honor Guard proceeded with a Hang Step March and transferred the casket to the committal shelter. The firing squad of 7 representing the Air Force, Marines and Army fired three volleys and an Army soldier played Taps.

The Ft. Hood Honor Guard then folded the American flag and presented it to the widow of SSGT Aceves. To complete the ceremony the Honor Guard presented American flags to the parents and 6 children of Omar Aceves.
